Warrington 0 Spennymoor Town 2.

Two goals by Glen Taylor gave Spennymoor three valuable points in their promotion clash at Warrington last night.

Moors started the game in fifth place, one position behind Warrington, but with this victory they’ve climbed above them into fourth place with a home game coming up against second placed Nantwich on Saturday.

Moors started the game well, and nearly took the lead with a shot by Mark Anderson that Warrington keeper Tony McMillan touched over the bar.

Their early enterprise was rewarded when Rob Ramshaw got to the byeline and crossed for Glen Taylor to head past McMillan, Warrington slowly got back into the game, and Moors keeper Dan Lowson pulled off a good diving save from a Ruben Jerome left foot shot, then Dylan Vassalo had a shot deflected wide. However, Moors rallied and went close through a Shane Henry effort before half time.

Moors started the second half as well as they started the first, and went 2-0 up just after half time, when Taylor volleyed his second of the night from an Anderson cross.

Moors kept good control after Michael Monaghan missed a good chance for Warrington, and they nearly scored a third when a bad clearance by McMillan went straight to Chandler, who put the return ball just over.

Chandler was unlucky with another effort on the end of a Moors breakaway, but even though Moors survived a scramble inside their own six yard box, they held on for three important points.
