Stafford Rangers 3 Spennymoor Town 3.

Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley said that his side threw away two points when they were held to a 3-3 draw at Stafford Rangers.

Moors were 3-1 up at half time, and conceded a goal within a minute of the restart that put them on the back foot for the remainder of the game.

The dropped points mean that Moors are now ninth in the table, with a home game against runaway league leaders Blyth coming up on Tuesday night at the Brewery Field. They are three points from play off spot.

“We must see games out from winning positions of 3-1 up,” said Ainsley.

“Tommy Miller and I told the players what we wanted at half time, and just 50 seconds after the restart we conceded a bad goal. That goal killed us, and gave Stafford the momentum they wanted to get back into the game.

“The second half spoiled all our good work in the first half, when we played some excellent football, but we’re giving too many sloppy goals away.

“The ironic thing is, we played better on Saturday than we did the previous Tuesday, when we beat Marine. We’re playing Blyth on Tuesday night, and if we make mistakes, then they’ll punish us, that’s for definite.”

Moors took the lead after 6 minutes when Andy Johnson fired the clearance from a corner into the six yard box, where Joe Tait chested the ball home.

However, Kyle Perry quickly levelled from a free kick after 9 minutes, only for Moors to go back into the lead midway through the half.

A right wing cross by Kallum Griffiths found Jamie Chandler, whose shot was blocked and Glen Taylor followed up to score from the loose ball.

Shortly after it was 3-1 when Rob Ramshaw sent Nathan Fisher running through, and he coolly finished.

But Moors couldn’t finish the game off wit ha fourth goal, and straight after half time Perry chipped Dan Lowson to put Stafford back into the game.

The home side were level on 52 minutes with a Sam Griffiths strike that went in off the underside of the bar.

Moors nearly won it though, but Shane Henry was just off target.

Moors: Lowson, Griffiths, White, Chandler, Tait, Curtis, Ramshaw (sub Mitchell), Henry, Taylor, Fisher (sub Dowson), Johnson (sub Mason).

Subs not used, Anderson, Armstrong Blyth, meanwhile, easily beat Corby 4-1 at Croft Park to go 16 points clear at the top. Dan Maguire 2, Luke Armstrong and Sean Reid scored their goals.

Whitby lost 3-1 at home to Stourbridge after being a goal up at half time through Dale Hopson, which means that they dropped to seventh.
