Bishop Auckland moved into the next round of the Brooks Mileson Northern League Cup with a 3-0 home win over Heaton Stannington tonight.

Bishops took the lead when Shaun Ryder fired home from 20 yards after 16 minutes, then he slotted in the second two minutes later.

Michael Hoganson had an effort saved before half time, while Andy Johnson was also denied. But Johnson made sure near the end when he scored from a Thomas McAloon pass.

Crook Town’s home game with West Allotment was postponed less than an hour before kick off because of a dangerous playing surface – the second time it has been postponed just before kick off.

In the North Riding Senior Cup, Wearside League Redcar Athletic caused a big shock against Whitby Town by beating them 1-0 thanks to a goal by Jordan Rivis. Whitby’s John Campbell missed a late penalty. Guisborough were also knocked out at home by Boro Rangers from the North Riding League.

Billingham Synthonia gave Hartlepool United a scare in the Durham Challenge Cup before going down 4-3.

Lewis Wood finished well to give Synners the lead early on, but Hartlepool equalised when Tomi Adeloye scored from a Lewis Hawkins pass.

Pools then had Devante Rodney sent off for a foul, and Synners went back in front on half time through Wood from the edge of the box.

Lewis Hawkins fired Pools level again early in the second half, but Wood quickly completed his hat trick.

However, Adeloye headed Pools level, and then Josh Hawkes fired the winner.
