Tow Law lost at home for the first time this season when they were beaten 3-0 by Gateshead in the Durham Challenge Cup tonight.

Gateshead took the lead after 15 minutes when Macauley Langstaff set up Elliott Forbes to score from a few yards, and they went 2-0 up when Langstaff scored after a good run by JJ O’Donnell.

Lewis Teasdale hit the bar from 30 yards for Lawyers, but it was 3-0 with six minutes left when O’Donnell fired into the bottom corner.

Northallerton, who have won the Ernest Armstrong Cup for the last two seasons, are through to the next round of this season’s competition after beating Whickham 4-2 in a penalty shootout.

Whickham took the lead through Leigh Shickle after 21 minutes, but Northallerton steadily worked their way back into the game and equalised on the hour through Aaron Ramsbottom.

In the first division of the ENL Marske are now up to second after a good 4-0 away win at Jarrow Roofing, while Stockton Town had a good 3-2 away win at Ashington.

In the second division, Durham City lost 2-1 at home to Heaton Stannington.

Heaton took an early two goal lead through Dan Robinson, with Sam Steele pulling a goal back.
