The EBAC Northern League is facing another weather-hit day, with the season set to be extended further into May.

The league has been badly hit in recent weeks by heavy rain and snow, and games have been re-arranged for early May, but another washout is looming today, which will leave many clubs with more than a dozen games to play. Marske, who are on Vase duty, have 18 games to play.

West Auckland, who are fourth, are at home to Seaham Red Star, and hoping to maintain their scoring record off 14 goals from their last three matches.

Manager Gary Forrest, who expects to choose from a full-strength side, said; “It’s important to win this game to maintain our push for a top three finish and set ourselves up perfectly for next season.”

Forrest has started building for next season with keeper Shane Bland and defender Ross Colquhoun signing deals.

Shildon, who were knocked out of the Durham Challenge Cup in midweek but were furious about a disallowed goal, are at second bottom Washington.

Player-manager Danny Moore and striker Billy Greulich-Smith are both struggling because of injury.

The game between Newton Aycliffe and Whitley Bay has been postponed.

In the second division, the games Tow Law v Blyth, Esh Winning v Crook, Alnwick v Brandon and Chester-le-Street v Heaton Stannington have all been postponed.

Northallerton, who are below Blyth on goal difference, are at home to Bedlington, and they expect to be at full strength.

Second bottom Darlington RA are at Billingham Town. Jim Wilson, Andy Lonsdale and keeper Phil Pentony are all missing. “We’re looking to kickstart our season and get a win,” said assistant manager Mike Colman.

In the Ernest Armstrong Cup, Durham City were at home to Thornaby, but that game has been postponed.
