Northallerton won the Northern League’s Ernest Armstrong Trophy for the second successive season by beating Stockton Town 7-6 on penalties after a goalless draw.
Northallerton manager Darren Trotter said; “The players listened and carried out the game plan and deserved to be in front at half time. I thought the missed chances would come back and hurt us.
“Stockton had a good go in the second half and our lads showed great character and resilience to keep them at arms’ length.
“Penalties are a lottery but again there was quality from both sides. It’s a great feeling to win, and hopefully that will inspire us to kick on next season in the league.”
Stockton Town manager Micky Dunwell said; “We can’t be too disappointed, because we’ve still had a great season.”
