North Shields came from 3-1 down with ten men to beat Marske United 7-6 in the Brooks Mileson Northern League Cup semi final on penalties at Mount Pleasant.

Craig Gott put Marske into the lead from the penalty spot on 22 minutes after Danny Earl was fouled, but Shields levelled on 32 minutes when Gareth Bainbridge broke away and beat Robbie Dean.

Shields then had defender Jordan Summerly dismissed for two bookable offences, and Marske advantage of the man extra by taking the lead on 51 minutes, when Shields keeper Kyle Hayes fumbled a shot, and Earl tapped in, then they made it 3-1 with a good shot on the turn by Ashley Coffey.

But Dan Wilson pulled a goal back from a Michael McKeown free kick, then he equalised with a good effort to force extra time. There were 13 successful penalties until Curtis Round missed for Marske.

In the ENL, Bishop Auckland came from behind to beat West Allotment 3-2 at Heritage Park.

Bishops went behind to an effort by Craig Hindmarch, but they responded well, and after Andy Johnson hit the side netting, he equalised on 36 minutes when picked up a long ball and fired past the Allotment keeper.

But Bishops went behind again when their keeper, Tom Dawson, failed to hold on to the ball from a shot towards goal, and Tony Stephenson scored from the rebound.

Bishops levelled again with an Alex Francis header from a Priestley Griffiths corner, and Michael Hoganson fired them the winner from 30 yards.

In the second division, Billingham Town’s promotion chances were dealt a severe blow when they were beaten 1-0 at home by Heaton Stannington, for whom Jonathan Wright scored after three minutes.

Durham City enjoyed a goalfeast with Whickham, with seven goals scored in the first half before Whickham ran out 5-3 winners, Mark Fitzpatrick scoring a hat trick for them, while Willington drew 0-0 at Bedlington.
