Bottom club Chester-le-Street, without a home win all season, pulled off a big shock when they beat third placed Shildon in the ENL at Chester Moor tonight.

Amar Purewal fired across the keeper to put Shildon into the lead on 18 minutes, but Chester levelled with a shot by Andrew Grant-Soulsby on 24 minutes.

Shildon skipper Bobby Moore saw a header cleared off the line, and then Anthony Bell went close, before Chester stunned them by taking the lead with an effort by Dominic Laws on 70 minutes.

And Chester held on to increase Shildon’s misery four days after losing in the FA Vase.
