Shildon moved up to third in the Northern League with a 3-1 home win over Bishop Auckland at Dean Street.

Shildon took the lead when Dan parker scored from close range, and they nearly got a second when Amar Purewal broke clean through but Bishops keeper Ed Wilzcynski saved.

But Lewis Wing made it 2-0 with a deflected shot, then he got the third with another good effort before half time.

Bishops had more of the game in the second half and pulled a goal back through Andy Johnson from close range after 77 minutes.

Third bottom Guisborough had a good 1-0 away win at Marske United.

Guisborough went close early on with a shot by Gary Wood that Robbie Dean saved well, but Marske replied with a long range shot by former Guisborough full back Joe Ferguson, then Aaron Butterworth had two shots blocked.

Guisborough took the lead just before half time, when the Marske defence failed to clear a corner, and lee Bythway scored through a crowd of players.

Guisborough defended well in the second half, and restricted Marske to very few chances.

North Shields beat Newcastle Benfield 2-1. Benfield took the lead after just 4 minutes when John Campbell pounced on a mistake, then Paul Brayson missed a penalty after Campbell was fouled.

But Shields levelled just on half time when Craig McFarlane scored from close range, and seven minutes from time a cross by Lee Mason flew into the top corner of the net.

South Shields are still five points off leaders North Shields after they beat Penrith 4-1 at Mariners Park in front of a 1,222 crowd.

David Foley fired Shields into the lead with an effort that went in off the post early in the game but they didn’t get their second until just after half time when Carl Finnigan turned in a Wayne Phillips pass.

Foley made it 3-0 when he ran through and beat the Penrith keeper, and after Grant Davidson pulled a goal back, Julio Arca made it 4-0 from the spot.

Whitley Bay and West Allotment drew 2-2.

Liam Hudson put Allotment into the lead with a header on 5 minutes, but Whitley levelled with a good shot into the top corner by Thomas Potter.

Callum Patton restored Whitley’s lead with a free kick that went through the Allotment keeper’s hands, but Allotment levelled in stoppage time with a Hudson follow up after the ball hit the bar.

Sunderland RCA beat Ryhope CW 2-0, both goals scored by Stephen Callen.

Stockton Town went to the top of the second division with an excellent 5-1 away win at Easington, who were fifth at the start of the game.

Stockton went ahead after just 9 minutes with a free kick by Max Craggs, then Adam Nicholson got the second on 19 from close range.

Craggs scored the third with a 25 yard terrific free kick just on half time, and Fred Woodhouse made it 4-0 seven minutes after the break from close range.

Easington pulled a goal back through Jack Pounder, but Craggs completed his hat trick in stoppage time.

The Billingham derby between Synners and Town was a goalless draw, with Synners having the best chances.

Blyth Town are in touch with the leaders, beating Bedlington 5-0 with goals by Connor Andrews (2), Malky Morien, Liam Gillesphey and David Atkinson.

Durham City moved up to fifth with a 1-0 away win at Hebburn, Bradley Hird scoring their goal.

Tow Law won their local derby at Willington 1-0, thanks to a 75th minute goal by Dean Thexton, while Heaton Stannington beat Alnwick with a goal by Gary Yates.
