Newton Aycliffe were easily beaten 6-2 by Guisborough at the King George last night.

Guisborough took the lead after 7 minutes when Aycliffe full back Neil Pattison put through his own goal, but John Campbell levelled from the penalty spot following a foul on Matty Moffat by Leon Carling.

Guisborough regained the lead when Danny Earl produced a good finish with the outside of his right foot, then Connor Smith made it 3-1 from the edge of the box with a lob. Curtis Round headed the fourth from a left wing cross just on half time, and at the start of the second half a slip in the Aycliffe defence allowed Smith to run through and score another.

Campbell pulled one back with a 30 yarder, but with five minutes left Peter Bulmer beat two defenders and chipped keeper James Winter to make it 6-2.

Aycliffe’s Paul Garthwaite was sent off for two yellows.

Bottom club Norton lost 3-1 at home to Ashington.

Norton took the lead through a Thibault Charmey penalty, but that was cancelled out by Ben Harmison, who put Ashington into the lead on 72 minutes. Andrew Johnson scored another in stoppage time.

Morpeth beat Newcastle Benfield 2-1 to keep their slim title hopes alive.

Morpeth took the lead with a goal by Keith Graydon, but Benfield levelled through Dan Taylor after Paul Brayson’s penalty was saved.

Shaun Taylor put Morpeth back into the lead before half time.

Crook beat Whickham 3-1 at the Millfield.

Crook went behind to a curler by Steven Aiston, but Crook quickly levelled through Andrew Wright, and midway through the second half Nick Marley put them in front only a minute after coming on as a sub, Callum Johnston made sure with two minutes left.

James Rowe scored the only goal of the game for Thornaby at Esh Winning in a game of three sendings off – two for Esh and one for Thornaby.

Stokesley gained only their third win of the season when they beat Northallerton 2-0, with goals by Chris Horsley and Ben Jackson.
