League champions Marske United are looking for a new manager following the sudden resignation of Carl Jarrett along with his assistant Nathan Haslam.

Marske came from nowhere to win the league for the first time in their history last season, but Jarrett and Haslam decided to quit after their FA Cup exit at Lancaster on Tuesday night.

They have played just four league games this season, winning two and drawing one, and Jarrett said; “A few things have happened at the club which have made Nathan and me review our positions. Nobody has fallen out with each other, we just feel that we can’t take the club any further.”

Jarrett took over in the summer of 2014 from Ted Watts, and guided them from the bottom half of the league to win the title on a dramatic last day when Shildon failed to win at Bedlington.

Today, Marske are at home to Newcastle Benfield, and they are missing winger Craig Ruddy, striker Sam Garvie and defender Josh Myers. Ross Colquhoun has moved to Conference club Gateshead. Benfield are without Richie Slaughter, Carl Paterson , Chris Youlden and Chris Hardy, while player/manager Steve Bowey will have a fitness test.

Bishop Auckland are looking for their second league win of the season at home to Sunderland RCA, who are managed by former Bishop boss Marty Swales.

Bishops have dropped to second from bottom following their midweek derby defeat by Newton Aycliffe, but they have games in hand on nearly all the clubs above them.

However, manager David Bayles has injury problems over striker Ian Ward and midfielders Scott Thompson and Sean Tarling to contend with, while striker Kyle Davis is unavailable.

The RCA are boosted by the return of striker Liam Hatch and midfielder Tony Coe after injury, but Colin Larkin, Carl Morris and Joe Hughes are all missing.

Leaders Shildon are at home to West Allotment, and they will give centre forward Paul Connor a late fitness test, but midfielder Matthew Robson is unavailable.

Newton Aycliffe, who are sixth, are at Jarrow Roofing, and manager Peter Dixon will choose from a full squad, although Stuart Banks will have a fitness test.

Roofing welcome back Jamie Marshall, Dave Gordon and Jack Errington, but Kieran Wrightson is missing because of injury.

Guisborough are at home to Consett, and they will be at full strength except for full back Robbie Bettson. Consett include new signing Paul Buzzeo from Whitley Bay.

Dunston UTS, who dropped points in midweek at West Auckland, are at home to Ashington, and will be at full strength except for Micky Pearson who is unavailable. Ashington are without four players, James Taylor, Kyle Oliver, Gareth Williams and Scott Blandford, but Paul Dunn returns to the squad.

North Shields are at Bedlington, and they will be without injured quartet John Parker, Gareth Bainbridge, Denver Morris and Stuart Donnison, while Curtis Coppen is suspended. David Pounder returns after missing the FA Cup defeat at Kendal in midweek.

In the second division, South Shields, who are at home to Easington, are without midfielder Adam Sakr who has a dislocated shoulder and David Foley, but Wayne Phillips could return.

In the other game, Stokesley are at home to Tow Law.
