Browne took over a fortnight ago after Adam Rundle was sacked after just three games, and since then has managed to steady the ship. They also picked up a point at Ashington in midweek.

“It was a great result, we’re buzzing to get our first win,” he said. “The lads were excellent and deserved their win. Seaham made it difficult in the second half when they were down to ten men, but I thought we were the best team throughout the game.”

Harrison Davies missed a penalty, but he made no mistake a few minutes later when he scored from close range. Youngster Matty Pennal then scored the second when he dispossessed a Seaham defender and fired home. Seaham had David Scorer dismissed in the second half.

Chester-le-Street are second after they drew 0-0 at home to Team Northumbria in the clash between two of the promotion chasers.

Chester-le-Street manager Colin Wake said; “I was really pleased with the performance, preventing Team North from creating any clear opportunities for the full 90 minutes and restricting them to shots from outside the box and that with five regulars missing. We could and should have won the game from one of the four very good chances created, but a point against a side fancied for promotion with the squad available was very pleasing.”

Billingham Synthonia scored for the first time in five matches on their way to a 1-0 win at Crook Town, Foster Garton scoring from a Chris Lawther pass.
