Guisborough manager Chris Hardy is hoping that his team doesn’t start poorly in the new season.
Guisborough had a chance of winning the Northern League title last week season and faded in the last week of the season, and that was mostly down to a slow start to the season. The Priorymen almost made up for that with a five month unbeaten run from November through to early April, when they lost to champions Marske United.
They finished third, three points behind runners up Shildon, and four behind Marske.
“We had a poor start to the season, and we gave ourselves a bit of a task,” said Hardy.
“We always look to try and improve on the previous year’s position, and we know that there are areas of our game that we can improve upon.”
The vast majority of last season’s squad have stayed, although Callum Martin and Adam Gell have gone to Whitby and Nathan Mulligan has left for Marske. However, in have come Robbie Bettson from Billingham Synthonia and Brad Mills from Gateshead Reserves.
