Shildon manager Gary Forrest has pledged his future to the club after starting with plans for next season.

After the Railwaymen won the League Cup against Newton Aycliffe, Forrest revealed that he was considering quitting after ten years in charge.

But he has decided to continue, with the league title as the number one priority. Shildon agonizingly missed out on this season’s title by failing to win their last game at Bedlington.

“I’ve got unfinished business,” he said. “The three main competitions to win in my opinion in order of difficulty are, League, FA Cup first round proper and Vase.

“In the ten years I’ve been in charge, we have come within touching distance of all three, two of them last season, . In all three key games we never had the slightest of good fortune. Sometimes you question whether it’s meant to be, I also needed to make sure I had enough fire in my belly to do the club and myself justice.

“But at the end of the day, the club has evolved superbly over the last ten years, great support and fantastic chairman, and I need to finish the job.”
