The League could be facing its first whiteout of the season on Saturday.

Five games were postponed on Friday -- at Newton Aycliffe, Celtic Nation, Penrith, Tow Law and Brandon - and with more snow and ice forecast overnight, then many more games are likely to fall on Saturday morning.

John Campbell could return for Jarrow Roofing in their crunch game at North Shields.

Campbell went on loan to League Two side Oxford United earlier in the season, with the provision that he would be a permanent signing before the January 31st transfer deadline.

However, it looks as if Oxford don’t want to sign Campbell now, and unless they have changed their minds, Campbell will return to Roofing, and could play today.

Sixth placed Roofing, who need to win to maintain their title chances, are without midfielder Shaun Vipond because of injury. Roofing have played more games than the other title contenders, and are eight points behind the leaders.

Campbell was at West Auckland last season, and moved to Roofing during the summer.

North Shields, who are in second place, and they add Kevin Hughes, Michael McKeown and Adam Forster who missed the midweek defeat at Seaham, defender John Parker will have a late fitness test, while they include new striker Gary Day from Newcastle Benfield.

Consett start planning for life after manager Kenny Lindoe but their game at Celtic Nation is postponed.

Lindoe has announced that he will be quitting the manager’s role after ten years in charge as soon as the club have found a permanent replacement – he’d planned to quit at the end of the season, but after the Vase exit at North Shields decided to bring his retirement forward.

In his time in charge, the club won the second division title, the Durham Challenge Cup and nearly won the first division title twice.

League leaders West Auckland, who are two points clear, are at Whitley Bay, and manager Steve Skinner could include two new players in his squad. However, defender Adam Wilkinson will have a fitness test, so Skinner will include himself in the squad as a precaution.

Whitley are without defenders Michael Laws and Craig Smith because of suspension, but defender Callum Anderson is available again after missing last week’s game against Bishop Auckland.

Guisborough, who are unbeaten in their last ten league matches, are at home to Crook Town, and they welcome back Chay Liddle to their squad. Crook are seven wins away from safety, and will give Chris Hardy a fitness test.

Marske United, who have lost just once away in the league this season, have a tough away game at Durham City, and will be missing striker Sam Garvie and midfielder Austin Johnston, but flying winger Josh MacDonald returns after suspension.

Durham, who have lost only three times at home this season, are without suspended pair Arjun Purewal and Chris Wallace, while Moussa Bakhati returns to the squad. The game is in doubt because of ice on the artificial surface.

Shildon, who are in seventh place with games in hand on all the clubs above them, are at Ashington and are missing six players – Adam Rundle, Micky Rae, Bobby Moore, Paul Connor, Carl Jones and Lee Scroggins. Ashington parted company with manager Gary Middleton and assistant Perry Briggs in midfield, so Dave Brown from the reserve team will be in temporary charge.

Dunston UTS, who are unbeaten in their last six league games and are in fifth place , are at home to Newcastle Benfield, and they will be at full strength except for unavailable midfielder Dale Burrell. Benfield are without striker Steve Baptist and defender Chris Carr, while player manager Steve Bowey is a fortnight away from returning to the squad.

Fourth bottom Billingham Synthonia have a big away game at another team in the relegation battle, West Allotment, and they will give a fitness test to Steve Huggins, who has a sore knee.

Allotment, who are two points ahead of Synners, are without Marc Dummett because of suspension, and player-manager Paul Stoneman and Chris Douglass because of injury.

Bishop Auckland's away game at Penrith is postponed.

The second division game of the day is between third placed Washington and leaders Seaham Red Star.

Washington who are five points behind Seaham having played two games more, should be at full strength, so their strikeforce of Mark Davison and Chris Winn will be hoping to add to the 58 league goals they’ve scored between them.

Seaham, who are four points clear at the top, should be at full strength except for striker Adam Johnston, and long term injured Sonny Andrews.

Second placed Norton are at Chester-le-Street, and they will be without midfielder Karl Charlton because of injury, while striker Rocky Andrews is struggling with a hip problem. Another striker, Anthony Hume, is hoping to recover from flu in time.

Hebburn, who are fifth and ten points behind the top three, have a local derby at home to Birtley, and manager Scott Oliver will have a full squad, except for Ian Bickerstaff and Craig Malley are both injured long term.

Tow Law's home game against Ryhope CW has been postponed.

Esh Winning can continue to climb away from trouble by beating South Shields, and manager Chris Blakelock welcomes Karl Turner, Jason Simpson, Richie Addison and Anthony Phillipson to the squad. Esh have lost only twice in their last seven matches. South Shields have signed Baptiste Fixot from Durham City.

In the other games, Thornaby are at home to Whickham, and brothers Kieran and Curtis Edwards both return to the squad after suspension.

Billingham Town are at home to Heaton Stannington, who are missing Gary Dixon because of injury, while Lewis Burns will have a fitness test.

In the other game, fourth placed Team Northumbria are at home to Alnwick.

The match between Brandon and Northallerton was postponed on Friday morning, there are nine inches of snow on Brandon’s pitch.

In the EvoStik League, Blyth are at home to Barwell, and Whitby are at home to Rushall Olympic. Blyth’s Nathan Buddle is in talks about a move to a Football League club.
