Shildon manager Gary Forrest was furious with a disallowed goal that spoiled his team’s chances of getting through to the first round proper of the FA Cup.
The Railwaymen were beaten by a goal in each half, but Forrest felt that a disallowed goal by Lee Scroggins when they were 1-0 down should have stood.
“The offside goal killed us. I’ve watched it on video, and Lee came from an onside position to play the ball. He shouldn’t have been flagged offside.
“As well as the disallowed goal, we had some great chances. At half time, I had the feeling it wasn’t going to be our day. Their keeper pulled off three great saves. The lads did tremendously well, and they kept going right to the end. We’re disappointed, we have to move on now and do well in the Vase and the league. We shouldn’t feel sorry for ourselves, because that will play straight into the hands of Colne who we play on Saturday.
“It’s been a great run, and the club has enjoyed some great publicity.”
