West Auckland came from behind and survived a last minute penalty to defeat Billingham Synthonia 2-1 in the ENL last night.

Synners took the lead in the third minute when Nathan Porritt pounced on a mistake by West keeper Dan Lowson. West had a couple of shaky moments after that, but they levelled on 35 minutes when Steve Richardson had a shot blocked, but he recovered quickly to turn in the rebound.

West took the lead on 57 minutes when Synners keeper Jonathan Ball could only parry a shot straight to Mattie Moffat, who tapped in.

Synners missed a great chance to level in the last minute when they were awarded a penalty, but Lowson saved Michael Sweet’s spot kick.

Consett also came from behind to win 3-2 at Morpeth. They took the lead when Matty Slocombe hit the post, but he reacted first to fire the rebound home, but Sean Taylor levelled from an Adam Forster cross. Taylor then headed his side in front from a Steven Anderson cross, but Consett levelled with a 25 yard free kick by Calvin Smith. Aris Guerin-Lokonga scored the winner for Consett with a left foot shot.

Marske United came from behind to win 2-1 at West Allotment.

Allotment took the lead on 16 minutes when they had two shots blocked, but Mark Fenwick fired the ball home.

But in the space of a few minutes, Marske turned the game around. Josh Myers levelled from a free kick in the second half, then he scored the winner from close range.

Newcastle Benfield had a good 2-0 home win over Dunston UTS.

After a goalless first 40 minutes, Benfield took the lead when Jack Errington fired home, then Paul Brayson added a second at the start of the second half.

In the second division, two of the promotion chasers, Norton and Ryhope CW drew 2-2.

Norton took the lead on 19 minutes with a strike by Michael Jameson in the first half, but David Pounder levelled for Ryhope CW six minutes into the second half. John Seaton restored Norton’s lead, but Jack Pounder equalised six minutes from the end.

Willington had a good 4-1 away win at Stokesley, Mark Bell (44,49), Adam Comby (52) and Stephen Howe (90) scoring their goals.

Northallerton bounced back to form with a comfortable 5-1 home win over Brandon, while Esh Winning and Billingham Town shared the points in a goalless draw.
