Shildon ended North Shields’ unbeaten record in the ENL when they came from behind to win 3-2 at Dean Street last night.

Shields took the lead five minutes before half time, when Denver Morris latched on to a through ball and chipped it over advancing Shildon keeper Lewis Graham but just on the whistle Chris Emms fired the equaliser at the far post before half time. Emms was on target again on 62 minutes with a low shot that deceived the Shields keeper.

It was 3-1 on 71 minutes when Jamie Harwood crossed for Billy Greulich-Smith to head home, while Morris scored a late consolation.

Bishop Auckland warmed up for Saturday’s local derby against Spennymoor by winning 3-1 at West Allotment last night.

Bishops had a couple of chances in the first half when Kieron Megran and Adam Sakr were both off target. Bishops took the lead on 54 minutes when Danny Brunskill scored from a Megran pass, then seven minutes later Glen Lane crossed from the right for Jonny Butler to head in. They scored their third goal in 11 minutes when Ben Riding fired home through a crowd of players. Michael Bell scored a late consolation.

Marske had most of the early chances, and had an effort cleared off the line, while Craig Gott rounded keeper William Jones, but the keeper managed to scramble the ball away. Marske took the lead just before the break when Darren Hollingsworth rose above the Aycliffe defence and headed home off a defender.

Both sides had a man sent off at the start of the second half following a melee, with Aycliffe’s Richard Langthorne and Marske’s Freddie Woodhouse both shown red. Marske added to their lead with a right foot shot by Reece Kelly.

Crook went down 3-0 at Morpeth, who scored all their goals in the second half through Steven Anderson (2) and Michael Hall.

Consett won 4-2 at Penrith. Consett took the lead when Luke Sullivan opened up the Penrith defence f or Michael Mackay to run through and score, but Ryan Hall levelled for Penrith just on half time. Michael Read then put Penrith into the lead, but Consett stormed back with goals by Matthew Slocombe, Steve Bowey and Sullivan.

Guisborough took the lead when Anthony Hume scored from a cross by Danny Earl then Adam Gell made it 2-0 after the Roofing defence failed to clear a Danny McWilliams free kick. Roofing pulled a goal back through Paul Gardiner from a loose ball, but Nathan Mulligan made it 3-1 with a 25 yarder. Danny Earl scored the fourth late in the game.

In the second division, Heaton Stannington drew 2-2 with Ryhope CW.

Heaton Stannington took the lead through Ben Telford, but Ryhope hit back with goals by Chris Trewick and Andy Appleby. Telford levelled for Heaton near the end.

Bottom club Brandon lost 5-3 at home to South Shields.

Shields took a first half lead through Paul Kane, then in the second half they added further goals through David Molloy, James Talbot and Kane in the second half. But Brandon fought back, and in the last ten minutes pulled goals back through Craig Roberts (2) and George McCain. But Talbot scored again in the last minute Second bottom Esh Winning had a good 2-1 home win over Stokesley, with goals by Karl Turner and Anthony Phillipson. Ben Bonner scored for Stokesley, and he also had a penalty saved.
