Two West Auckland subs helped them come back from 2-1 down to win 3-2 at Celtic Nation last night in the ENL.

West Auckland took the lead after 62 minutes when Ian Ward, who signed briefly for Celtic Nation during the summer, scored from a pass by Mattie Moffat.

But Nation levelled when Steve Skinner, who was caretaker manager and player at West until ten days ago, scored from a right wing cross by Tyran Taylor, and the same combination worked again on 55 minutes, Skinner scoring his second.

But West levelled when Dennis Knight scored with a left foot shot from 30 yards, then Steve Richardson scored the winner after Brian Close’s effort was blocked.

Dunston UTS are now top of the table after they beat Bedlington.

The only goal was after 40 minutes when Gary Shaw crossed Andy Bulford to volley into the net off the crossbar.

Billingham Synthonia had three men sent off in their 3-1 defeat at Ashington.

Ashington took the lead with an effort by Marc Walton, but Nathan Porritt levelled on 54 minutes. Walton restored Ashington’s lead again, but when Synners were down to nine, Glen Taylor added the third.

Synners finished the game with eight men. Danny Dillon was sent off for his second yellow before half time, and he was followed in the second half by Kris Hughes and Matty Osmond.

Sunderland RCA are still without a league win after they were beaten 2-1 at Whitley Bay.

Whitley took a first half lead through Peter Watling, and with five minutes left added a second through Chris MacDonald. However the RCA quickly pulled a goal back through Joe Hughes.

Durham beat Newcastle Benfield 2-1 to go sixth.

Durham took the lead with a goal midway through the first half from Callum Munro, but Benfield levelled on 73 minutes through Phil Airey. But Durham snatched the points thanks to a late winner by Callum Hope In the second division, Darlington RA are now unbeaten in six league games after beating Birtley 2-1. Rob Moncur scored both goals for the RA, with Dan Quine replying. The RA are now fifth.

Hebburn and Whickham drew 2-2. Scott Swanston put Whickham into the lead, but Hebburn hit back with two goals by Channon North before half time. Craig Rook levelled for Whickham midway through the second half.

Seaham beat Chester-le-Street 3-1, with goals by Josh Home-Jackson, Sonny Andrews and Lewis Wing. Jake Stafford scored for Chester.

Northallerton had a good 4-0 away win at Tow Law, Danny McLachlan scoring a hat trick.

Thornaby came from behind to beat Alnwick 2-1. Alnwick took the lead at Thornaby through Adam Shanks, but veteran Jamie Clarke levelled for Thornaby. Kieran Edwards scored a second half winner.

Billingham Town won their first game of the season by beating Ryton and Crawcrook 1-0 in the Vase with a goal by Stuart Browne.
