Shildon will have their toughest game yet in this season’s FA Cup after being paired at a National League club in today’s fourth qualifying round draw.

The Northern League club were drawn away to Guiseley, who are currently third bottom of the National League, the match to take place a week on Saturday.

Manager Danny Moore said; “We would have preferred the game to be at home, but we don’t mind travelling away. I’m glad we’re playing a full time outfit that is a lot closer to home than we where we were on Saturday, because at least we don’t have to travel overnight, and plenty of our fans will be able to go to the game.

“We’re the team that everyone wanted to play, so the pressure will be on Guiseley. They won’t be looking forward to it, because we’re a banana skin.”

This will be Shildon’s fourth away tie in their six FA Cup games in the competition, having already won at Guisborough, Bottesford and Banbury so far.

Guiseley are third bottom of the National League, having won just once at home this season, but they have changed their manager since the start of the season with former Barrow manager Paul Cox replacing Adam Lockwood.

Shildon were hoping that they would be a drawn at home to Hartlepool, but instead they were drawn away to South Shields, who have already beaten Darlington and York City.

Gateshead have been drawn away to Buxton.

All the games are scheduled to be played on 14th October.
