West Auckland won 3-1 at Marske United to end the home club’s unbeaten record.

West took the lead after 12 minutes when Nathan Fisher drove the ball into the Marske six yard box where Amar Purewal scored, but six minutes later Marske levelled when Craig Gott’s free kick was cleared as far as Danny Earl to fire home.

West regained the lead on 53 minutes when Arran Wearmouth set up Purewal, who neatly chipped Marske keeper Robbie Dean, and it was 3-1 when Fisher fired home.

Durham City lost 4-2 at home to Bedlington in the second division.

Bedlington’s Paul Kane scored twice in eight minutes in the first half, then after half time Zak Atkinson and Tyler Scarth scored. Callum Smith and Sam Steele pulled goals back for Durham.

In the Durham Challenge Cup, Bishop Auckland were easily beaten 6-2 at Dunston UTS.

Dunston took the lead when Michael Hall fired home in a crowded penalty area, then Mark Fitzpatrick made it 2-0 with a header from a free kick. It was 3-0 thanks to a low shot by Adam Rfundle on 50 minutes, and after Dunston missed a penalty, they got the fourth through Scott Heslop. Alex Francis scored from the edge of the box to pull a goal back, but Dunston added further goals through Adam Rundle and Fitzpatrick, with Stuart Thompson scoring a late consolation.

Crook Town had a good 1-0 away win at Washington, Christian Holliday scoring their goal.
