Newton Aycliffe are still looking for their second win of the season when they were beaten 4-1 at home by Newcastle Benfield tonight.

Benfield took the lead after 22 minutes when Liam Hudson crossed for Scott McCarthy to score, then Aycliffe were twice denied an equaliser by the Benfield keeper Danny Nimmins. However, former Aycliffe striker John Campbell crossed for Paul Brayson to make it 2-0 before half time.

In the second half, Lewis Scorgie headed a third, and Alex Nisbet fired the fourth. Mattie Pennal pulled a goal back for Aycliffe.

In the second division, Crook Town lost 2-1 at Billingham Town.

Kris Summers put Billingham into the lead on 19 minutes, but that was cancelled out by Kyle Morris on the half hour. Summers restored Billingham’s lead at the start of the second half.

Northallerton’s hopes of taking over the leadership of the second division suffered a blow when they were beaten 3-1 at home by Hebburn.

Hebburn took the lead after 15 minutes through a Kris Hughes penalty awarded for a foul by Jason Blackburn then Northallerton had defender Sam Grainger red carded. Hebburn made it 2-0 through Peter Jones just before half time.

Northallerton pulled a goal back through Andrew Ramsbottom, but Channon North made sure of the points for Hebburn.
