Shildon moved into third place in the EBAC Northern League with a comfortable 6-0 away win at Billingham Synthonia.

After Adam Burnicle went close for the visitors, Shildon took the lead with a strike by Dave Reynard on 15 minutes, and then they went further ahead through a Billy Greulich-Smith penalty following a foul on former Synners player Anthony Peacock.

Burnicle dribbled through and got the third on the hour, then he scored a fourth from a Craig Hodgson through ball. Reynard scored another to make it 5-0, and sub Cameron Fenton completed the rout.

In the second division, Crook drew 2-2 with Alnwick at the Millfield.

Alnwick took the lead through Stephen Young, but Crook hit back and took the lead with goals by Kyle Morris and a Chris Emms penalty. But Josh Hay rescued a point for Alnwick in the second half.

Esh Winning lost 3-0 at Hebburn, who took the lead just before half time with a goal by veteran striker Paul Chow, and they added more in the second half through Craig Malley and Chow.

Chester-le-Street lost 2-1 at Ryton and Crawcrook. Chester took the lead through Michael Hepplewhite after 32 minutes, but Ryton hit back in the second half with goals by Liam Anderson and Martyn Hepple.

Bishop Auckland have appointed Colin Myers as their manager for the second time.

Myers had one spell in charge of Bishops in which he helped them win the Durham Challenge Cup and finish in good league positions, before he moved on to Blyth as assistant manager.

He returned to the club as assistant during to the summer to Steve Riley, and following Riley’s departure, was caretaker manager.

He takes over with Bishops having lost their first four league games, and he said: “I am delighted to be back at Bishop and can’t wait to get started with what will be a big job. I know from my interview with the Board that everyone is ready to move forward and I am excited at being part of this process.”
