Shildon kept the pressure on the league leaders with a comfortable 4-1 home win over Sunderland RCA at Dean Street last night.

The RCA stunned Shildon after 18 minutes when Colin Larkin was left completely unmarked to pick up a crossfield pass, and he slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net from ten yards.

But the RCA were reduced to ten men on 30 minutes when left back and last man Ross McNab pushed David Ferguson to the ground, and was sent off, and just three minutes later Shildon were level when Micky Rae headed in a cross from Matty Robson.

The Railwaymen took the lead on 49 minutes when Ferguson hit a terrific right foot shot into the top corner from 25 yards, and Bobby Moore nearly got a third but his effort was cleared off the line.

However, Shildon managed to score the third on 70 minutes when some good passing opened up the RCA defender for Ferguson to square the ball for Billy Greulich-Smith to tap in. Lewis Wing ran though and slotted in the fourth on 85 minutes.

Seaham Red Star came back from 4-0 down to win 5-4 at Guisborough.

Thibault Charmey put them into the lead direct from a free kick on 17 minutes, then he headed the second on the half hour. Liam McPhillips headed the third from a corner on 54 minutes, then Joe Ferguson fired the fourth on 62 minutes.

But Seaham pulled one back through Paul Gardner a minute later ,and they scored four times in the last ten minutes through Chris Lynch (2), David Paul and Lee Hetherington.

West Auckland, under the new management team of Darren Williams and Steve Skinner, lost 3-1 at North Shields, who are back on top of the table.

West midfielder Dave Edwards hit the bar from the edge of the box after six minutes, but they found the back of the net after 12 minutes when Adam Preston fired into the top corner. However, Shields levelled when Danny Richmond could only turn a Marc Lancaster cross into his own net, then they took the lead when a clearance by West keeper Gareth Shaw rebounded off Shields striker Ryan McGorrigan and into the net.

West kept battling away, but they went 3-1 down when Kevin Hughes headed in from a corner.

Consett won 2-1 at West Allotment. Michael Sweet fired Consett into the lead after nine minutes, then Luke Sullivan added the second from the penalty spot after Adam Knowles was fouled. Sam Bramley pulled a goal back for Allotment in the second half.

Morpeth beat Whitley Bay thanks to a last minute winner. Morpeth took the lead when Keith Graydon’s shot was parried, only for Chris Reid to turn the ball home, but Whitley levelled three minutes later with a Callum Patton penalty.

Morpeth regained the lead through Michael Chilton from a Chris Reid pass, but Patton equalised with a low shot for Whitley with ten minutes left. However, Steven Anderson got the winner for Morpeth deep into stoppage time.

Stockton Town are still unbeaten in the second division this season and are now top on goal difference after they beat Heaton Stannington 3-0, all the goals coming in the first half.

Stockton’s Joe Carter scored one of the fastest goals of the season when he beat the Heaton keeper after just 19 seconds, and he ran through and scored a second on 21 minutes. Kallum Hannah got the third from a free kick on 35 minutes.

Billingham Synthonia are also still unbeaten after they beat Easington 1-0, when Liam O’Sullivan crossed for Josh Rowbotham to head home.

Norton won 5-1 at Northallerton. Norton took the lead after 21 minutes when Jim Wilson helped on a long clearance for Phil Caley to run through and score, then Caley converted a penalty for the second just before half time.

Mattie Lovatt pulled a goal back with a header , but James Marley restored Norton’s two goal lead from a corner. Nicky Martin then raced through to make it 4-1, and he grabbed a fifth in the last minute.

Brandon’s recent revival came to an end when they were beaten 3-2 at Bedlington.
