Bedlington missed a chance to go second in the ENL behind leaders West Auckland when they lost 2-0 at home to Jarrow Roofing tonight.

Roofing striker John Campbell continued his rich vein of form midway through the first half when he curled a right foot shot into the top corner, and nine minutes after half time Dan Kirkup headed down Campbell’s corner for Wayne Phillips to drive home.

West Allotment came back from a goal down against Dunston UTS to win 2-1 and move out of the bottom three.

Dunston took the lead just on the stroke of half time, when Gregg MacDermott, the son of Newcastle legend Terry, scored from a right wing cross, but Kallum McGlen equalised from the corner of the box for Allotment on 53 minutes.

Dunston’s David Scorer then had a header cleared off the line, but Allotment took the lead on 80 minutes when sub David Dormand finished off a good move down the left.

Ashington had a good away win at Newcastle Benfield, who had their keeper Andy Grainger dismissed in the first half. Andy Johnson, Glen Taylor and Tony Stephenson scored for Ashington, with Paul Brayson replying.

In the second division, Willington increased lowly Esh Winning’s woes when they beat them 3-1 at Hall Lane. Adam Burnicle gave Willington an early lead, but Anthony Phillipson levelled for Esh. Aidan Goodey with a penalty on 58 minutes and Burnicle in the last minute scored for Willington in the second half.

Birtley came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Hebburn. The visitors led with goals by Channon North and Craig Malley in the first 20 minutes, but an own goal by Ross Toward before half time and a goal by Kai Hewitson pulled them level.
