WITH the pressure mounting on his shoulders, John Carver is understood to have invited two of the fans he remonstrated with on Saturday down to Newcastle United’s training ground.

Allen O’Connell, one of those who allegedly clashed with the Magpies head coach during the 3-2 defeat to Swansea City, claims to have been asked to meet up with Carver this Friday ahead of the Premier League trip to Leicester the following day.

It has emerged that O’Connell and another supporter – Karen Choake – were a couple of the disgruntled supporters to have had an exchange of words with Carver.

Carver has issued a strong denial that he swore or acted aggressively towards fans and is keen to move on having called for protection from abusive supporters in the aftermath of the Swansea defeat.

O’Connell, a lifelong fan and season ticket holder, revealed on Twitter: "We're going along on Friday and we're thankful for getting the chance to speak to the staff and players, watch a bit of training and sit down and talk to John Carver.

"It's a massive thing to me, even with everything going on at the club. We're grateful and thank the club for the chance to do this. We're just trying to get the point across that we were making and hopefully find out what Carver is trying to do.

"Whatever people may think, this is a massive opportunity and a chance of a lifetime for me as a fan, no matter what's going on at the club. Why would I turn down a chance to try to re-connect with the club we all deep down love? Something just clicked, and I'd had enough. So I got up and started asking questions.”
