NEWCASTLE UNITED will not be rushed into making any further signings before the end of the summer transfer window.

The Magpies have already made six signings since the end of last season but could still do with adding another striker having failed to agree a deal with Lyon for £16m-rated Alexandre Lacazette.

The stand-off has meant a variety of alternatives have been considered, including Arsenal’s Joel Campbell but the chances of him moving to Tyneside have reduced after AC Milan asked the Gunners for the Costa Rican in part-exchange for Mario Balotelli.

Newcastle would have to come up with a cash offer of around £8-10m and Arsene Wenger is not particularly keen to sell him after watching Campbell impress in the Champions League and Greek League with Olympiacos last season. He scored 11 goals and created 12 and the Athens club would like him to return.

But Pardew is not going to panic in to paying more than he feels he should just to add another body to his Newcastle squad.

He said: “If anything comes along that works for us financially, and more importantly on the football front, then we will move. We’re in good shape, we’ve got six players in already, we’ve done our business early That’s the key to it. We have done well to have five big hitters at this time.”

Borussia Dortmund's Patrick Aubameyang and Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku are under serious consideration on Tyneside.

After the earlier signings of Ayoze Perez and Jack Colback, Newcastle added Siem De Jong, Remy Cabella, Emmanuel Riviere and Daryl Janmaat to the squad for an combined outlay of more than £27m.

Despite the signings, and room for at least one further addition, Pardew is keen to see what some of his younger generation of players at the club already can offer.

He wants to see the likes of winger Rolando Aarons, Adam Campbell and Adam Armstong push for a role next season and has been impressed with them out in New Zealand.

The trio will figure again this morning when Newcastle play their final pre-season friendly Down Under, taking on Wellington Phoenix having impressed in Tuesday’s 4-0 win over Sydney on Monday.

After today’s game, Newcastle fly back to England to face Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday at Hillsborough before heading to Germany to face Malaga and Schalke next weekend in Gelsenkirchen.
