NEWCASTLE UNITED will not find out when they will be travelling to Wembley to face Tottenham until early April.

That news has come on the day when it has been confirmed the Magpies’ game at Everton has been selected to be shown live by Sky Sports.

Newcastle will now travel to Goodison Park on Monday, April 23 (8pm) rather than the originally scheduled date of 3pm on the Saturday before.

Supporters who have purchased tickets but are unable to attend the new date should contact the St James’ Park box office with the relevant details and will be given a full refund.

Tickets remain on sale to season ticket holders with 15 or more loyalty points. United have received an allocation of just under 3,000 tickets, priced at £30 for adults, £23 for over-65s and £18 for under-18s.

Despite the announcement about the Everton date, the Premier League have had to hold off details about Newcastle’s game with Tottenham.

The new date for the game that has to be rearranged had will be selected as part of May's broadcast selections and those are due to be announced early next month.

Newcastle had been due to go to Wembley to face Spurs last weekend – which had already been brought forward to the Friday night - but was postponed because of the North London club’s FA Cup involvement.

That led to Rafael Benitez - whose squad are training back at Benton - taking his squad away for four days to Spain to face Royal Antwerp in a friendly on Sunday when the vast majority of the players got some game time.

It will be three weeks between fixtures when Newcastle do return to action against Huddersfield on Saturday week, when Benitez will want the four point gap to safety to be extended at St James’ Park.

It is hoped that Algerian striker Islam Slimani will be fit by then. Rather than appear against Antwerp he was allowed to head away with his country, despite not figuring for Newcastle since joining in January because of a thigh injury.

Slimani was not named in the Algeria team to face Tanzania on Thursday evening, although he could still play some part in Tuesday’s friendly with Iran.

Even though Benitez was wary about allowing him to go it is hoped that the international break will help him take a further step towards appearing for Newcastle for the first time in his £1.5m loan.
