NEWCASTLE UNITED'S French midfielder Yohan Cabaye has been given a three match ban by the Football Association.
Cabaye's appeal against a charge of violent conduct was thrown out this morning and his suspension will start immediately - meaning he will miss tonight's Premier League fixture at Blackburn.
The former Lille playmaker was given retrospective punishment for the way he appeared to stamp on Brighton's Adam El-Abd during last Saturday's FA cup defeat at the Amex Stadium.
Newcastle had been hoping he would be let off after El-Abd had written to the FA personally to call for the charge to be dropped.
