NEWCASTLE (4-2-3-1):
8 Dubravka: Made a sensational save to deny Barkley at a time when a Chelsea goal might well have given the visitors hope
7 Yedlin: Kept Hazard quiet as he marshalled the right-hand side of Newcastle’s back four and has been in excellent form all season
8 Lascelles: Another hugely impressive showing from the Magpies skipper, who will almost certainly be the subject of big-money interest this summer
8 Lejeune: Performed superbly against both Giroud and Morata, and has proved a key addition since moving from Spain last summer
7 Dummett: Has been a crucial performer since returning from injury in December and delivered another solid showing
8 Shelvey: Relished the space he was afforded – it will be a travesty if, as looks likely, he fails to make England’s World Cup squad
8 Diame: His form in the second half of the season has been a revelation, and he outplayed his rivals in the Chelsea ranks
7 Ritchie: Delivered an excellent cross to help set up Gayle’s goal and created a number of dangerous situations with his work on the right
9 PEREZ: Scored two excellent goals to ensure he finished the season as Newcastle’s leading scorer – his form since Christmas has been superb
7 Murphy: Made a rare start in place of the ineligible Kenedy, and set up Gayle’s opener with a shot Courtois did well to save
7 Gayle: Claimed his sixth goal of the season as he headed home from close range, but was forced off at the start of the second half
Subs:
6 Joselu (for Gayle, 48): Provided a physical presence in the second half and has given his all every time he has played this season
Hayden (for Ritchie, 72)
Haidara (for Diame, 87)
(not used): Darlow (gk), Manquillo, Gamez, Merino.
CHELSEA (3-5-2):
COURTOIS 8; Azpilicueta 5, Christensen 4, Cahill 4; Moses 4, Barkley 5 (Willian 76), Kante 6, Bakayoko 4, Emerson 4; Hazard 5 (Pedro 82), Giroud 4 (Morata 76).
Subs (not used): Caballero (gk), Rudiger, Alonso, Fabregas.
Man Of The Match: AYOZE PEREZ – The Spaniard exemplifies everything that has been good about Newcastle this season – his effort and commitment have enabled him to raise his performance levels significantly in the second half of the season.
