NEWCASTLE UNITED goalkeeper Matz Sels has completed a season-long loan move to Anderlecht.

The 25-year-old has returned to his homeland after falling out of favour on Tyneside last season.

Belgium international Sels joined the Magpies from Gent in June 2016, having previously played Champions League football and been voted Belgium’s Goalkeeper of the Year.

He began last season in goal for the Magpies, making nine appearances in the Championship and keeping five clean sheets.

However, he committed a series of errors, and was dropped last autumn with Rafael Benitez preferring Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot for the remainder of the campaign.
