NEWCASTLE boss Rafa Benitez has been speaking to the press ahead of Saturday's night's game with promotion rivals Huddersfield.

On Dwight Gayle

"Dwight is fine and is in the squad. Hayden and Rolando Aarons are out, but the others are available.

"Dwight has been training for the last three days and doing well. That is why he is in the squad, he is getting better.

"We have won a lot of games without him, but he is the top scorer in the league and in our team, and is someone who has different qualities and movements to the other strikers. Hopefully, he will be available for the rest of the season.

"If you have someone where you know if you can create one or two chances, he can take one or two, that always makes it easier for the other players."

On match confidence

"We have more confidence for the future (after beating Brighton). Our record away is quite good, but we needed to confirm that against a team at the top of the table.

"It was important for the confidence for the next games and it was good to see the players doing it when they had to do it I remember at the beginning of the season people were saying I had to address the away form.

"Now the away form is fine, people ae saying we have to address the home form. It is about organisation and the spirit of the team, and we are managing this situation quite well."

On having a winning mentality

"It is always important to have the right mentality, but especially when you are close to the end of the season and every point can make a difference. We have to approach the game thinking we have enough quality to win."

"We will only think about the first one. We will try to get three points in this game then we will see.

The Northern Echo:

Huddersfield boss David Wagner

On Huddersfield

"Remember the first game we played against them – they were well organised and were pressing well.

"They are more or less doing the same. They are getting better and have more confidence.

"They were playing without pressure, but maybe now they will start feeling pressure because they are at the top of the table, they have a good manager though and the players are enjoying playing with this intensity.

"Now they will start feeling the pressure because it’s not the same.

"When you are in the middle of the table, you can play nice football and everything is positive, but when you’re playing for something, you have a lot more pressure.

"They have more of less the same style, they play the same way against anyone. That is important for them."

On not getting carried away

"It has always been the same idea. When you think you are better than the others, that is when you make mistakes. We have to approach the game like we did against Brighton.

"It’s always important when you are doing well, and you know you can do it against anyone. The teams knows what to do. They know how to manage the pressure when we go away."
