HARIS VUCKIC claimed a last-gasp winner as Newcastle’s Under-23s secured a 1-0 win at West Brom.
Vuckic returned to Tyneside at the end of last month following a loan spell at League One Bradford, and last night’s outing at Kidderminster was his first appearance in a Magpies shirt since leaving Valley Parade.
He is out of contract in the summer, but having watched Sammy Ameobi force his way into Newcastle’s first-team squad after a loan spell in League One, the 24-year-old midfielder will hope to make a similar impact in the next few weeks.
He scored Newcastle’s winner in the third minute of stoppage time last night, converting at the far post after a corner was flicked into his path.
Newcastle handed a second-string debut to teenage striker Victor Fernandez, who moved from Spain last month.
Newcastle: Harker, Sterry, Good, Findlay, Williams (Bailey 82), Hunter, Barlaser, El-Mhanni, Ward, Fernandez (Holmes 56), Vuckic.
