A NEWCASTLE UNITED Under-23s team featuring Freddie Woodman and Curtis Good claimed a 2-1 win over Brighton.
Sean Longstaff scored both of the Magpies’ goals as Peter Beardsley’s side secured their first victory in four outings at Crawley Town’s Checkatrade.com Stadium.
Longstaff opened the scoring in the sixth minute as he latched on to Jack Hunter’s through ball to score, but Brighton levelled with 17 minutes left as Joe Ward scored with a looping strike.
Longstaff, an 18-year-old midfielder, had the final say just a minute later, though, as he fired home the winner from close range.
Newcastle: Woodman, Williams, Satka, Good (Findlay 46), Gibson, Hunter (Newberry 21), Barlaser, Holmes (Smith 70), Longstaff, Roberts, Charman.
