DeANDRE YEDLIN is Newcastle United’s ninth signing of the summer but Rafael Benitez is still looking for more new arrivals before the end of the transfer window.

Benitez – who has offloaded Daryl Janmaat to Watford for £7m where he has signed a four-year deal - would be more than happy to keep Moussa Sissoko on Tyneside beyond this month, but is ready re-invest some of the cash raised from his sale back into the squad.

Inter Milan are the club most willing to offer closest to the £35m asking price, while Everton and Tottenham are also keen. Juventus are also indicating an interest following Paul Pogba’s exit.

Of Yedlind, Benitez said: "We have known for a little while of Watford's interest in Daryl Janmaat, so it was important for us to bring in a replacement immediately.

"In DeAndre we have a player who knows English football well. He has good experience, an attacking mentality, ability and great pace.

"I think he can do really well for us and will give us good competition on the right."

Janmaat completed his switch to Watford, for less than the initial £10m asking price, yesterday while Tim Krul will follow Siem de Jong back to Holland to complete a season-long loan to Ajax by the end of the month.

"I'm really happy to be here, it's a new adventure. I was really pleased that Watford showed interest in me because I wanted to play in the Premier League,” Janmaat told the Watford website.

"We [Newcastle] lost three times to Watford last season. They had a good season and I hope we can do the same again this year. The club is showing great ambition and wants to improve, and I want to be part of that."

Yedlin, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland, is seen as the long-term replacement for Janmaat at right-back, although he will not figure against Brighton at St James’ Park on Saturday evening.

Newcastle will head into the visit of the Seagulls, who missed out on an automatic promotion place to Middlesbrough last May, looking for a third straight Championship win having started with successive defeats.

The midweek EFL Cup victory over Cheltenham has also provided a boost, with Spanish striker Ayoze Perez’s first two goals of the season responsible for the victory and he wants to build on those against Brighton.

Perez said: “Scoring for me is always a good feeling, the goals gave me a lot of confidence and it's good for me and the team that I can help us into the next round.

“Brighton will be up there as well this season challenging for promotion so it's going to be another hard game.

"But we're at home, we have to keep doing the same work in the same way, just focus on that game because it will be really hard and we have to be ready for it."

Perez finished the game with bandaging around his head but scored a goal either side of half-time to ease Newcastle through. He was not the only player sporting the white strapping, with Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dwight Gayle both going off with concussion.

He said: "The defender caught me and kicked me with his knee. I got a small cut in the ear but it's OK, I could keep playing even though it was painful so I'm not too bad.

"It's my first time and I think it seemed like it was lucky for me. I'm thinking about wearing it every game after those two goals!

"I have to say that I was laughing with Grant Hanley in the corner because I had the bandage and I saw that the medics were doing the same to Dwight Gayle. I was joking: 'Is everyone going to wear a bandage today?'

“It was a tough game, we knew that, there were injuries but hopefully most of them aren't too bad and we've now won three in a row and that's what we need. Now we must work hard and focus on Brighton.”

Paul Dummett, meanwhile, has been called up to the Wales squad for next week’s international programme.
