Goals:
1-0: Sturridge (2, allowed to turn on the edge of the area and picked out the bottom left corner of Darlow’s net)
2-0: Lallana (30, controlled Moreno’s pass before perfectly picking out the top right corner with a beautiful left foot shot)
2-1: Cisse (48, nodded in at the back post from Anita’s cross to make the most of a poor Mignolet decision)
2-2: Colback (66, lurking to pounce and power a shot which deflected off Lovren beyond Mignolet)
Bookings: Tiote (22, foul); Milner (54, foul)
Referee: Andre Marriner (Walsall) – annoyed Klopp and the Kop by not awarding a couple of penalties to the hosts but neither were clear cut. 6
Attendance: 43, 837
Entertainment: 3/5
LIVERPOOL (4-2-3-1): Mignolet 4; Randall 5 (Coutinho 71), Toure 7, Lovren 6, Moreno 6; Stewart 6, Allen 7 (Lucas 71); Milner 5, LALLANA 8 (Ojo 83), Firmino 6; Sturridge 7. Subs: Ward (gk), Skrtel, Smith, Ibe.
NEWCASTLE UNITED (4-2-3-1):
6 Darlow: Did what he had to do and could not get anywhere near to the two goals from Sturridge and Lallana;
7 Anita: Dug in again at full-back and impressed, particularly by sending over the delivery for Cisse to get Newcastle back into it
7 MBEMBA: The pick of the Magpies defenders and made a number of great blocks and tackles
6 Lascelles: Recovered well after a poor start when he allowed Sturridge too much space along with Dummett
6 Dummett: Had to work hard and did what he could in both directions to help seal the point;
6 Tiote: Like so many away players, struggled in the first half but was a big presence after the restart
7 Colback: His best game in midfield for a while and also ended his long wait for a goal
7 Townsend: After a quiet start he found his feet after the restart and had a hand in the second goal
6 Sissoko: All over the pitch again even if he didn’t hit the heights he has previously with the captain’s armband
4 Perez: Contributed very little in the time he was on the pitch although he was not the only one who could have been replaced
6 Cisse: After a quiet start he improved as the minutes ticked by and got Newcastle on track with a goal
Subs:
Wijnaldum (for Perez 46): His introduction sparked Newcastle into life even if he was not a key figure in the goals. 5
Mitrovic (for Cisse 75)
Shelvey (for Tiote 83)
Subs (not used): Woodman (gk), Mbabu, Aarons, de Jong
MAN OF THE MATCH: Adam Lallana – was the greatest creative force on the pitch and his goal was top notch.
