BOURNEMOUTH (4-5-1):
Federici 4; Smith 7, Francis 6, Distin 5, Daniels 6; RITCHIE 9, Gosling 8, Surman 7, Arter 6 (Rantie 79), Stanislas 5 (Tomlin 73); King 7 (Kermorgant 73).
Subs (not used): Boruc (gk), Cook, Bennett, MacDonald.
NEWCASTLE (4-2-3-1):
10 ELLIOT: A remarkable performance given the extent of his injury troubles – one of the best individual displays by anyone in the Premier League this season
6 Janmaat: His attacking was severely curtailed, but he defended reasonably well and kept Stanislas fairly quiet
6 Mbemba: Started off poorly and almost let in King with a slip, but improved significantly in the second half
7 Coloccini: Was all over the shop in the early stages, but gradually regained his composure and was the key performer in the final half hour
5 Dummett: Suffered at the hands of Ritchie for most of the afternoon, but at least he stuck to his task and continued to give his all
6 Tiote: Another player who improved markedly after a slow start – beginning to show signs of getting some of his form back
3 Anita: Really poor throughout – his distribution was dreadful and he repeatedly found himself in a no-man’s land on the shoulder of the back four
4 Sissoko: Should have been a key attacking outlet, but made far too many wrong decisions and repeatedly conceded possession
6 Perez: Was a peripheral figure for most of the game, but took the one chance that came his way and in the end that was crucial
5 Wijnaldum: Was involved in the build-up to the goal, but cut an increasingly frustrated figure as Newcastle’s long balls bypassed him
5 Mitrovic: Battled away in an isolated lone-striker role, but never really got the better of his opponents – great back-heel for the goal though
Subs:
Cisse (for Mitrovic, 63): Showed plenty of enthusiasm, but could do with reminding himself of the offside law 5
Thauvin (for Perez, 77)
Mbabu (for Anita, 90)
(not used): Woodman (gk), Lascelles, Gouffran, de Jong.
Man Of The Match: ROB ELLIOT – One of the great Newcastle goalkeeping displays – saved everything that came his way despite his ongoing injury problems.
