NEWCASTLE UNITED (4-1-4-1):

5 Krul: Got nowhere near either goal and will be annoyed to be beaten at his near post;

7 JANMAAT: He attacked better than he defended and got his reward as a makeshift winger in the second half by finding the net; 6 Mbemba: Well short of the displays which Newcastle have seen so far but he was not given much help from Coloccini

3 Coloccini: By the time he showed signs of getting to grips with Deeney, the damage had already been done

4 Haidara: Not an afternoon he will want to remember after Abdi robbed him in build up to the opener;

4 Colback: Needs to do an awful lot more than what he is serving up at the minute and partly to blame for opener;

5 Thauvin: Had one effort on goal which was saved by Gomes but that was about as good as it got;

5 Sissoko: Unable to have the impact that fans are expecting and wanting from him even if he did tee up Janmaat’s goal

5 Wijnaldum: After scoring on his debut, he is struggling to prove why he cost so much

5 Perez: Tried a few things without ever looking like he had the confidence to pull them off;

3 Cisse: Wasted a fantastic chance to level things but other than that he was on the periphery of things before being pulled.

Subs:

De Jong (for Cisse 46): His introduction led to an improvement in the side’s play but could he play 90 minutes? 5

MAN OF THE MATCH

TROY Deeney – destroyed the Newcastle defence with his power and helped create two for Ighalo.
