MEHDI ABEID has completed his departure from Newcastle United and agreed a permanent deal with Greek side Panathinaikos.
The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at the Athens club, and has rejoined them on a full-time basis after Magpies head coach Steve McClaren told him he would not be part of his plans for the remainder of the campaign.
Abeid has spent more than four years on Tyneside, but in that time he managed just 21 senior appearances in all competitions.
The Algerian midfielder joined Newcastle from French side Lens in May 2011, but did not make his Premier League debut until November 2014.
