REMY CABELLA and Cheick Tiote have both been omitted from Newcastle United's tour of the United States in order to recover from injury problems.

Steve McClaren named a 24-man squad for the trip to America, which will see Newcastle take on Club Atlas, Sacramento Republic and Portland Timbers.

Twenty-three members of that squad travelled to the US in the early hours of this morning, with new signing Georginio Wijnaldum set to link up with his new team-mates in the middle of the week.

However, there is no place in the party for Cabella, who picked up a thigh injury in Friday's friendly win at Gateshead, or Tiote, who is also nursing a minor knock. Both players have been linked with a possible move away from St James' Park this summer.

Four other senior players - Rob Elliot, Paul Dummett, Mehdi Abeid and Sylvain Marveaux - have also remained on Tyneside for treatment rather than travel to the US.

Newcastle squad for US tour: Rolando Aarons, Vurnon Anita, Adam Armstrong, Gael Bigirimana, Papiss Cisse, Jack Colback, Fabricio Coloccini, Karl Darlow, Siem de Jong, Shane Ferguson, Curtis Good, Yoan Gouffran, Massadio Haidara, Daryl Janmaat, Tim Krul, Jamaal Lascelles, Gabriel Obertan, Ayoze Perez, Emmanuel Riviere, Moussa Sissoko, Steven Taylor, Georginio Wijnaldum (To travel at a later date), Mike Williamson, Freddie Woodman.
