STEVE McClaren has handed first appearances in a Newcastle shirt to Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles.
The former Nottingham Forest duo, who were signed 12 months ago and then sent out on loan to the City Ground, line up in goal and at the heart of the defence respectively at neighbours Gateshead.
Otherwise there is a familiar look about the Magpies team, with McClaren waiting for confirmation that Georginio Wijnaldum has completed a £14.5m move from PSV Eindhoven.
