ROLANDO AARONS provided crisis-torn Newcastle United with a much-needed boost by coming through 45 minutes of the Under-21s 4-2 win over Blackburn.
The promising winger’s season has been severely hampered by hamstring problems but he had a bright return to action when he helped the Magpies’ youngsters to a victory over Rovers.
Aarons had already hit the post when Newcastle claimed a two-goal lead courtesy of Adam Armstrong’s brace; with his second assisted by forgotten man Facundo Ferreyra.
After Aarons’ withdrawal at the break, more goals flowed at both ends. Callum Roberts added a third for Newcastle after David Carson had pulled one back. Then Olivier Kemen hit Newcastle’s fourth shortly after Lewis Mansell had hit Blackburn’s second.
Newcastle: Woodman; Sterry, Williams, Satka, Laidler; Kemen, Smith (Barlaser 66); Aarons (Roberts 46),Ferreyra, Gilliead; Adam Armstrong. Subs (not used): Harker, Newberry, Heardman.
