NEWCASTLE UNITED head coach John Carver will hold a clear the air meeting with his squad tomorrow morning following yesterday’s 5-0 defeat to Manchester City.
The Magpies were crushed by the reigning champions at the Etihad Stadium after finding themselves three goals down after 21 minutes.
Sergio Aguero’s first minute penalty got the ball rolling after individual mistakes led to Edin Dzeko being fouled inside the area.
From there, it was one-way traffic with Dzeko, Samir Nasri and a David Silva brace helping Manuel Pellegrini’s side record their biggest home win since 2004.
The result leaves the Tynesiders four points behind Stoke City in tenth, but Carver insisted he will not let the manner of the performance affect the remaining 12 games of the campaign.
“My job now is, do I sulk and start talking behind people’s backs? Do they players start talking behind other people’s backs? I hope not,” he said. “I’ve said it in the dressing room. We will have a discussion on Monday. We’ll air our differences and talk about the performance and then take that forward into Aston Villa.”
