Full-time: Newcastle United 1 Stoke City 1

PETER CROUCH nodded in a stoppage-time equaliser to prevent Newcastle United from moving back in to the top half of the Premier League.

Jack Colback, who could have received a second yellow card three minutes earlier for a foul on Victor Moses, had put the Magpies in front 16 minutes from time - moments after he could have picked up a second caution for a foul on Victor Moses.

Colback’s tidy finish should have proven enough to secure back-to-back wins for head coach John Carver but then Stoke, sitting a place above them in the table, clinched a late leveller.

Geoff Cameron’s deep cross was perfect for substitute Crouch to jump above Daryl Janmaat and the header crept underneath Tim Krul’s crossbar to clinch a point for the Potters.
