BOURNEMOUTH boss Eddie Howe has become the latest person to distance himself from a possible move to Newcastle United to take over as head coach.

Howe is one of the leading domestic candidates understood to have been considered by Magpies managing director Lee Charnley, with his credentials having been highlighted by Bournemouth's current position at the top of the Championship table.

The 37-year-old is regarded as one of the most progressive and highly-rated young coaches in English football, but insists he will not be leaving Bournemouth with promotion a realistic prospect.

"It's flattering," Howe told talkSPORT. "I am not going to say that you don't want to be linked with jobs because I think if you are not linked with jobs you are not winning games - so I will take that for winning games.

"But I have no interest in any other jobs bar this one. I don't listen to speculation or what the media say, it is very much about the day-to-day running of this football club. I love doing the job here and I am focused on our next game on Saturday."
