ALAN PARDEW has abandoned his policy of resting key players in the cup competitions as Newcastle United prepare to take on Tottenham for a place in the Capital One Cup semi-finals tonight.

Pardew has resisted the temptation to field a number of young players at White Hart Lane, and will instead rely on his leading performers despite the Tyne-Wear derby with Sunderland being just four days away.

The only big names missing are all enforced absentees, with Daryl Janmaat suspended, Steven Taylor and Cheick Tiote nursing minor knocks and Papiss Cisse ill.

Fabricio Coloccini will be partnered by Mike Williamson at the heart of the back four, with Paul Dummett lining up at right-back and Massadio Haidara starting on the left-hand side.

Jack Colback and Moussa Sissoko, who returns after serving a one-match ban at the weekend, will fill the deep-lying midfield roles, with Remy Cabella and Yoan Gouffran playing on either side of Ayoze Perez further forward.

Emmanuel Riviere has been selected as a lone striker, and will make his first start since September as Newcastle look to emulate Sunderland last season by making the last four of the League Cup.
