NEWCASTLE UNITED midfielder Gael Bigirimana has been training with Yeovil Town ahead of a possible move to the League One club.

Bigirimana linked up with the Glovers last week, having slipped out of first-team contention at Newcastle over the last couple of seasons.

Yeovil are understood to be keen on a loan move for the midfielder, although it will be interesting to see whether the Magpies are willing to sever their ties with the 21-year-old on a permanent basis come January given that he has been restricted to matches with their development side this season.

Bigirimana's sole senior appearance for Newcastle last season came in the opening round of the Capital One Cup at Morecambe, and it is telling that while Mehdi Abeid has forced his way into the first team in the last few weeks, the former England Under-20 international has remained out of the senior picture.

Bigirimana, who was born in Burundi, has made 13 appearances for Newcastle since moving from Coventry City in 2011.
