MUSTAPHA Carayol made his long-awaited comeback from an injury lay-off for Middlesbrough’s Under-21s.
The speedy winger, playing his first game since appearing at Bournemouth ten months ago, came through 58 minutes of Boro’s 3-0 defeat at Brighton, which prevented Paul Jenkins’ side from climbing to the top of the Under-21s Premier League.
Carayol, who had been sidelined after rupturing his cruciate ligament, came through 58 minutes unscathed before he was replaced by young prospect Harry Chapman.
Goals from Danny Pappoe, Jesse Starkey and Jeffrey Monkana put Brighton three up before half-time and then Carayol’s big return came to an end just before the hour.
Middlesbrough: Coddington; Tinkler, Atkinson, Burn, Bennett; Morris, Jones (Maloney 58), Kitching, Fewster, Brobbel, Carayol (Chapmann 58). Subs: Pears (gk), Weledji, Griffiths.
