MIDDLESBROUGH have agreed a £5m deal for West Ham goalkeeper Darren Randolph, but Cristhian Stuani has left the Riverside to join Spanish side Girona.

Randolph's arrival ends Garry Monk’s search for a new shot-stopper, which has been a key priority all summer following the departure of Victor Valdes and Brad Guzan.

The 30-year-old has flown back from Austria, where he helped West Ham beat Fulham on Thursday night, and is set to undergo a medical at Boro's Rockliffe Park training ground this weekend.

Boro had looked at a number of goalkeeping options, including Newcastle's Karl Darlow and Sheffield Wednesday's Keiren Westwood, but Monk was always keen to sign Randolph if possible.

West Ham were initially reluctant to release the Irishman, but their stance altered when they secured Joe Hart on loan from Manchester City.

Randolph will be Boro’s number one next season, with his first appearance for the club likely to come in next weekend's final pre-season friendly against Augsburg.

Stuani will not be involved in that game as he completed his switch to Girona yesterday.

The Uruguayan has moved to la Liga for £3m, having slipped down the Boro pecking order towards the end of last season.

Stuani leaves having scored 16 goals in 66 appearances since joining Boro in 2015 and links up with defender Bernardo Espinosa, who also left Boro to join Girona this summer.
