AITOR KARANKA has rubbished rumours about his Middlesbrough future by leading training at the club's Rockliffe Park this morning, Tuesday.

The Boro boss was back at the training ground in Hurworth, near Darlington, after a night when social media was rife with suggestions he was on the verge of leaving.

Odds tumbled on him being the next Premier League manager to lose his job in a short space of time on Monday night.

Confirmation arrived on Tuesday morning, though, with the Spaniard taking training and the club reporting it's 'business as usual'.

The developments came on the back of Karanka's criticism of Middlesbrough's supporters after Saturday's home defeat to West Ham United, when he accused them of having 'short memories'.

It has been claimed that Karanka immediately regretted his remarks, although there has been no official word from the head coach at this stage.

It is also being claimed from within the corridors of power at the Riverside Stadium that Karanka's future was never in doubt.

Middlesbrough are back in action against Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup this weekend and there are ongoing talks aimed at boosting his squad before the transfer window closes on January 31.
